In the Mykytivka colony, malicious regime violators scratched themselves
In the Mykytivka general-regime colony (city of Horlivka, Donetsk region), 9 prisoners staged a group act of self-harm. Anatolii Bondarenko, head of the press service for the Department for the Execution of Punishments in the Donetsk region, reported this to “OstroV”.
“The Mykytivka colony is a minimum-security colony. Persons who have been convicted for the first time and have committed minor crimes serve their sentences there. There is a high-security section at this colony where prisoners who regularly violate the regime are placed. There are only eleven such individuals in this section. Nine of them scratched themselves,” said A. Bondarenko, specifying that the inflicted wounds posed no threat to the health of the convicts.
They were provided with medical assistance on the spot.
Employees of the Prosecutor’s Office and the Department for the Execution of Punishments arrived at the scene of the incident. According to A. Bondarenko, the prisoners who scratched themselves did not express any serious grievances. “There are some complaints regarding the conditions of detention, and that is all,” he said.
