Violence in some colonies continues
According to reports that require confirmation, following the events at Strizhavka Colony No. 81 (Vinnytsia Region) – two suicides and reports of self-harm – about 40 convicts were transferred to other colonies of the Department. It is reported that during the transfer, these convicts were beaten in transit SIZOs. It is assumed that the majority of them have been sent to colonies in the Dnipropetrovsk Region. It is also reported that criminal proceedings are intended to be opened against some convicts (the name of one of them is known to the Portal’s editorial office) for disrupting the work and inciting disobedience to the administration of the Strizhavka colony. At least one convict is being held in a disciplinary isolation cell (SHIZO) or a chamber-type premises (PKT); there are concerns that violence is being used against him.
The reaction of the administration of institutions where extraordinary events occur, in the form of transferring ‘problematic’ convicts to other colonies, is assumed to be an element of the so-called fight against ‘thieves’ traditions’. It seems that this fight has intensified recently.
