In Volyn, consultations are being provided to persons serving sentences in the Kovel Juvenile Colony
The Association for the Protection of Youth Rights of Volyn is continuing to provide consultations throughout February-April 2009 to persons serving sentences in the Kovel Juvenile Colony, within the framework of the project ‘Improving access to legal knowledge for persons in places of deprivation of liberty’, supported by the International Renaissance Foundation.
During the last meeting with the wards of the Kovel Juvenile Colony, which took place on 18 March 2009, lawyers from the Association provided individual consultations on issues of legal regulation of pardons, inheritance, conditions of serving a sentence, and pension provision for persons who have lost a breadwinner.
The aim of the project is to reduce the level of recidivism through increasing the level of legal knowledge of convicted persons in the Volyn region by providing individual legal consultations.
The project implementation period: September 2008 – April 2009. The project provides for the provision of at least 150 individual consultations to wards of the Kovel Juvenile Colony, answering questions, and assisting in the drafting of necessary documents (petitions for pardon, applications for parole, etc.).
