Every year on 10 December, the UHRU presents the “Thistle of the Year” Anti-award to individuals and government bodies that have most brutally violated human rights. You have the opportunity to point them out.
Last year, the laureates of “Thistle of the Year” were: Prosecutor General of Ukraine O. Medvedko, the President of Ukraine, the Ministry of Health, People's Deputy of Ukraine H. Moskal, and the Luhansk City Council.
Your rights are being violated — tell the UHRU about it!
We need facts and evidence. Together, we can draw attention to the most serious human rights violations that have occurred in the state during the year. Let's change the human rights situation for the better!

The UHRU “Thistle of the Year” Anti-award was founded in 2006 with the aim of drawing public attention to brutal human rights violations that occurred in the state during the year, and to stimulate public discussion regarding trends dangerous to human rights in the country.

No initiatives or decisions related to the award can be aimed at profit-making or supporting political parties by any of the initiative's organisers, jury members, or sponsors.
