Position of Assistant to the Chairman added to the central office staff of the department

With the aim of implementing the provisions of the Optional Protocol to the Convention against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment, ratified by the Law of Ukraine of 21 July 2006 No. 22-V, and the requirements of the Decree of the President of Ukraine of 25 April 2008 No. 401 ‘On the Concept of Reforming the State Penal Service of Ukraine’ regarding ensuring the observance of constitutional human rights and freedoms in penal institutions and pre-trial detention centres of the State Penal Service of Ukraine and the openness of its activities for democratic civilian control, by orders of the State Department of Ukraine for the Execution of Sentences dated 11.11.2009 No. 257, the position of Assistant to the Chairman (for Human Rights Compliance in Penal Institutions and Pre-trial Detention Centres) was added to the central office staff of the State Department of Ukraine for the Execution of Sentences, and by order dated 20.11.2009 No. 273, the Centre for Preventive Monitoring and Protection of Human Rights in the Activities of Bodies and Institutions of the State Penal Service of Ukraine was established within the State Department of Ukraine for the Execution of Sentences.
