A trailer carrying prisoners overturned in Dnipropetrovsk Region

During unauthorised transport of prisoners from Ordzhonikidze Correctional Centre No. 79, the trailer became detached. This was reported by the press service of the State Penitentiary Service administration in Dnipropetrovsk Region.

'The driver of a GAZ-31029 vehicle, which belongs to the farm enterprise "Rossiya" where the prisoners work, was transporting them, and due to a trailer malfunction caused its detachment. As a result, the trailer moved onto the road verge and collided with a concrete barrier, which led to four prisoners being injured,' the statement said.

A total of eight people were in the trailer. The statement also noted that the decision to transport the prisoners in the faulty trailer had not been agreed with the institution.

'All the injured prisoners received emergency medical assistance and were admitted to the central city hospital in Ordzhonikidze. Currently, four of them are in hospital. There is no threat to their health,' stated the press service.

A criminal case has been opened against the driver
