Kremenchuk Correctional Colony (No. 69)
For many years, the state institution “Kremenchuk Correctional Colony (No. 69)” was part of the State Penitentiary Service of Ukraine and ensured the execution of criminal sentences in the form of imprisonment in accordance with the requirements of the criminal-executive legislation of Ukraine.
The institution was located in the city of Kremenchuk, Poltava Region, and functioned as a correctional colony for the detention of male convicts.
Its primary activities included ensuring the regime of serving sentences, organising paid labour for convicts, their vocational training, general secondary education, and conducting social and educational work aimed at resocialisation and preparation for release.
Over the years, the colony had a developed production base, which provided employment for convicts and the fulfilment of production orders. The labour of convicts was an important component of the institution’s activities and was used as one of the means of their social adaptation and the acquisition of professional skills.
As part of the reform of the penitentiary system of Ukraine and the optimisation of the network of penal institutions, the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine decided to terminate the activities of the state institution “Kremenchuk Correctional Colony (No. 69)”.
The convicts were transferred to other institutions of the State Penitentiary Service of Ukraine, and the colony ceased its functions regarding the detention of convicts.
The optimisation of the institution’s activities was carried out to increase the efficiency of the penitentiary system’s functioning, ensure more rational use of budgetary funds, personnel potential, and state property, and to concentrate resources in existing penal institutions.
As of today, the state institution “Kremenchuk Correctional Colony (No. 69)” does not carry out activities in accordance with its primary purpose.
The future use of its property complex is determined by decisions of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine.
